Concerts in Vienna

You must take in a concert while you are in Vienna. Ours combined, a symphony, ballet, and opera. It was fabulous.

Fabulous Backdrop

Look at this beautiful scenery as a backdrop to the quaint town of Innsbruck, Austria.

Innsbruck, Austria

Of course, a stop in Innsbruck is not complete without visiting the Swarovski store. Right next to it was this woman and her dog painted in silver, like crystal almost. Weird as heck.

Neuschwanstein Castle

This was as spectacular as described. I will say one thing, you better be in good shape to do this tour. No vehicles can climb up to the castle so from the parking lot, you still have a ways to hike and then up to each floor. Not for the weary! The views from the […]

Opening & Closing Scene Hills of the Sound of Music

When we were at Eagle’s Nest, the tour guide pointed out these grassy plains. He told us that is where they shot the opening and closing scenes in The Sound of Music where Maria and then the entire family were running.

My Vote for the Best Mote!

This was in Salzburg, Austria. I thought it was just the best example of a mote that could be. Love it!

St. Stephen’s Cathedral Vienna Suspended Cross

This glorious suspended cross in St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, Austria is worth the trip just to see it. It must have been recently added because I do not see it in very many pictures on the web. It is moving to say the least.

Vienna Austria Concert at the Kursalon

This concert was so exceptionally good, I stayed for the entire production. Not only was there a great small symphony orchestra, but a lovely ballet couple and a soprano and tenor opera singers that were amazingly good. I would recommend doing this while you are there.   http://www.viennaconcerts.com/kursalon.php

Vienna, Austria

Vienna’s roots lie in early Celtic and Roman settlements that transformed into a Medieval and Baroque city, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The historic centre of Vienna is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque castles and gardens, and the late-19th-century Ringstrasse lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks. A plague epidemic ravaged Vienna in […]

Mondsee & Our Danube Cruise

About 21 miles outside Salzburg is a little lake side town called Mondsee. It is only 10 x 7 kms in length and width but the town became a huge hit when the wedding scene from The Sound of Music was filmed here. St. Michael’s church is situated right in the middle of the town […]
